The economic impact of the Coronavirus pandemic will remain long after the virus has been defeated.
On Friday 27th March, the UK Government announced another change to support businesses and their employees during this time of uncertainty.
The government has stated that workers who are unable take their full annual leave entitlement, because of COVID-19, will be able carry it over in to the next two holiday leave years.
Many full-time employees are entitled to 20 days holiday, plus bank holidays, each year. Businesses often stipulate that any holiday not used, is lost. However, these changes from the government stipulate that where it is ‘not reasonably practical’ for an employee to take their leave due to COVID-19, they will be allowed to take them in the following two years.
The new regulations state that an employer will need a ‘good reason’ to not allow a worker to take the carried over annual leave on their specified days.
